Lancaster County issues statement on Controller Lisa Colón’s passing
Lancaster, PA – We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lancaster County Controller Lisa Colón. Lisa served Lancaster County for six years in the Controller’s office, rising to leadership roles within the office before being elected to serve as Controller in 2021. Lisa bravely battled health issues over the past several years but was always focused on serving Lancaster County. During her leadership, she oversaw the financial accounting for all County Departments. During her tenure, both she and her office received multiple national awards from the Government Finance Officers Association for their work and helped make Lancaster County an example for counties across Pennsylvania.
We have confidence the staff of the Controller’s office will continue to serve Lancaster County and set a high standard. Per County Code, Chief Deputy Controller Kathy Kunkel will be sworn in as Controller. Kathy has over 45 years of service with Lancaster County and is extremely qualified to lead the office.
We have ordered the Lancaster County Flag on County properties to be lowered to honor Lisa. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lisa’s family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
