City man charged with viciously attacking girl in assault that was captured on video has case proceed to county court
A Lancaster City man charged with viciously assaulting a young girl, part of which was captured on video, will have his case proceed to county court following a preliminary hearing last month.
Judge Adam Witkonis ruled Oct. 19 that the case of Quinn Kentar Green Sr., 41, could proceed to the Court of Common Pleas on charges of strangulation, simple assault and endangering the welfare of children.
Green is accused of smacking the victim, pinning her to the ground, pulling her arms behind her back and picking her up by her neck and holding her off the ground at his residence in the 800 block of Manor Street sometime in June or July. Green has previously been convicted of crimes for assaulting the same victim.
The 16-year-old victim testified that Green’s actions caused her “excruciating” pain and injuries including difficulty breathing and a visibly displaced collarbone. That testimony matched the description of the attack the victim gave in two separate interviews with the Lancaster County Children’s Alliance and to Lancaster City Bureau of Police Det. Jared Snader, who filed the charges.
An attorney representing Green urged the court to dismiss at least some of the charges on the basis of the victim’s testimony that she was still able to breathe during the attack with some difficulty.
Assistant District Attorney Jessica Collo, who will prosecute the case, countered that Green’s actions impeded the victim’s ability to breathe and also caused injury to her collarbone which continues to cause her pain.
After considering the argument Judge Witkonis bound all charges over to county court.
Though she could not recall the exact date of the assault, the victim had previously provided similar stories to both police and the Children’s Alliance. The victim told police Green had open-hand slapped her to the face, which knocked her to the ground, before he picked her up off the ground by placing both hands around her neck.
At one point during the assault the victim’s head struck a basement door, she told police. Then, she added, Green got behind her and pulled her arms backward with significant force.
An eyewitness recorded part of the assault which showed Green pulling the victim’s arms behind her. The victim also made passionate statements in the video about Green having just picked her up by her neck and choking her.
When speaking to police Green admitted to having pulled the victim’s arms behind her back, though he denied ever hitting her or holding her by her neck. Green also acknowledged that the victim complained of chest pain after he had pulled her arms.
A second assault occurred sometime later, the victim told police, mere weeks before she spoke to the Children’s Alliance about the initial incident. In the second assault, the victim said Green punched her in the head which knocked her into a bathtub and caused her to cut her hand when it struck the faucet.
Yet another attack occurred when Green smacked the victim in a fit of anger, she told police.
Green is currently free after posting $50,000 bail.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
