Lancaster mayor to present police chief appointment to City Council
LANCASTER, Pa., Jan. 22, 2026 — Mayor Jaime Arroyo will bring the appointment of a new chief of the Lancaster City Bureau of Police before City Council on Tuesday.
Easton McDonald will be presented to councilors for appointment at their regular meeting on Jan. 27. If appointed, McDonald will start on Feb. 2.
McDonald brings more than 28 years of law enforcement experience to the City of Lancaster. Most recently, he served as assistant chief of police in Alexandria, Virginia.
Mayor Arroyo valued trust and authenticity during the selection process.
“At the public meet-and-greet in December and in conversations with staff, Easton McDonald really listened, engaged, and demonstrated that his values align with the values of the Lancaster community. I’m confident that he’s the right person to lead the bureau and build on the strong recruitment, community engagement and policing work already being done by the bureau,” said Mayor Arroyo.
