Commonwealth secures guilty verdict of city man for killing man, injuring woman in 2020 shooting following jury trial

A Lancaster County jury convicted a city man of killing a man and seriously injuring a woman after he opened fire on them following a three-day trial this week.

The jury found Isaac Sanchez, of the 200 block of East Liberty Street, guilty yesterday of third-degree murder, aggravated assault and two felony firearms offenses.

Sanchez, 40, shot both victims in the 500 block of Manor Street the morning of Oct. 27, 2020.

One of the victims, 36-year-old Terrell Woodrow Coley, was shot in the chest and died at a local hospital. Another victim, 24-year-old Miranda Fernandez, was shot in the leg and survived her injuries.

Not only did Sanchez not have a license to carry the gun, but he is not able to legally possess a firearm at all due to a previous felony conviction in 2007.

Though Sanchez initially escaped the scene of the shooting he was quickly identified as the perpetrator. Police in Hardin County, Ky., arrested Sanchez in January 2021.

The jury returned a guilty verdict after about three hours of deliberation.

Judge Jeffery Wright, who presided over the trial, is scheduled to sentence Sanchez in at the conclusion of a pre-sentence investigation.

Assistant District Attorney Kyle Linardo and Assistant District Attorney Callista Chartier prosecuted the case.

Lancaster City Bureau of Police Det. Thomas Ginder filed the charges.
